4. OLPC raises hundred-dollar laptop price to $175

   OLPC has distributed about 200 beta versions of its XO laptop to each of the 7 countries that committed to making bulk orders so far: Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Nigeria, Libya, Pakistan, and Thailand. 2,000 laptops sent to software developers.

5. FlickrBlockrs

   FlickrBlockrs are a simple black plastic strip mounted on a pair of specs. They are aimed at people who are sick of their digicam owning friends uploading photos of them to the web. These things are actually available to buy at $10.

6. Ontario gets solar farm

   Once complete in 2010, the 40-megawatt project, near Sarnia in southwestern Ontario, will be able to supply enough emission-free electricity to power up to 6,000 homes. It will be built by OptiSolar Farms Canada Inc.
